On the 1st of January Deutschlandfunk interviewed Candice Gordon, Head of Cultural Affairs at the Embassy of Ireland in Germany, about the forthcoming exciting Zeitgeist Irland 24<\/em> programme of Irish arts in Germany to take place over the course of 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the programme Fazit<\/em>, Britta\u00a0B\u00fcrger asked Ms. Gordon what about the \u2018zeitgeist\u2019 of contemporary Irish arts which goes beyond the cultural concepts of Ireland that the German public are so familiar with. \u201cWhile respecting our cultural heritage, Irish artists have always been known for having an eye on the future and on breaking boundaries,\u201d replied Gordon.

Asked about the cultural relations between the two countries, Gordon remarked \u201cmany of the creative diaspora from Ireland have already worked in Germany and built up their careers here, and the objective now through Zeitgeist Irland 24<\/em> is to further build up cultural networks and generate a lot of new opportunities\u2026 We are working with many established and well-regarded German partners, for example in Staatstheater Mainz and with the Festival of Animated Film in Stuttgart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
