If I Fall, Don\u2019t Pick Me Up<\/em>, the new film from Irish filmmaker Declan Clarke, commissioned by the Embassy of Ireland in German in the framework of Zeitgeist Irland 24, will have its German premier at UNDERDOX film festival in Munich.\u00a0 The feature length art-documentary, shot entirely on 16mm film, explores the relationship between iconic Irish author Samuel Beckett and renowned German theatre director Walter D. Asmus, and considers a legacy built on interpretation and performance: when the original actors have departed the stage, what remains?<\/p>\n

If I Fall, Don\u2019t Pick Me Up<\/em> highlights Beckett\u2019s work in Germany, including his residencies at the Akademie der K\u00fcnste in Berlin and his ground-breaking works for television at the S\u00fcddeutscher Rundfunk, assisted by Asmus. The film was commissioned by the Embassy of Ireland in Germany to explore this link between Germany and Ireland, and received a Special Mention in the International Competition at the renowned\u00a0 film festival FID Marseille in June.<\/p>\n
