A Place between Homes

Two jazz concerts in Berlin showcasing Irish jazz talent

10 September - 11 September

Berlin

Event Category:

Galwegian composer and guitarist Conor Cantrell will present eight original compositions in Berlin. The music was written for jazz septet and inspired by his story of emigration to Germany in 2017. Leading a band comprised of both German and Irish musicians, these concerts will be a celebration of finding his place between homes.

Concert Dates:

10 September – Kunstfabrik Schlot

11 September – The Famous Goldwatch

A professional musician from the age of fifteen, Conor has earned his way in the industry as a multi-instrumentalist songwriter and composer. He has had the great fortune to study with some of the foremost musicians and educators in the world, including Dave Liebman, Mark Turner, Steve Coleman, Rufus Reid, Jonathan Kreisberg, Ari Hoening, and Jerry Bergonzi, to name just a few.

Throughout his career, Conor has had the privilege to tour with renowned international artists and groups such as The Commitments, Imelda May, Republic of Loose, the Brexit Big Band, Brian Priestly, and John Dankworth. Conor obtained an Honours Music Degree from Trinity Laban Conservatoire and subsequently settled in Berlin, where he has found success both as a composer – having released two albums and getting his music played on four major radio stations in Germany – and as a performer, regularly collaborating with high-end ensembles like The Brandenburger Symphoniker, The Savoy Satellites, and Jazz Royal. Conor is currently completing his masters at BIMM University Berlin and is hoping to release his third album in late 2024 after which he will continue to pursue his artistic visions with his own jazz trio.
