The International Festival Maritim has run for 25 years, hosting international artists from all over the world from the international ‘sea music’ scene including Celtic and Irish music. This years event is expected to bring up to 100,000 people to party until the whale pine on the banks of the Weser River start to shake. The musical style will alternate between Celtic punk, shanties, beautiful sea ballads and various versions of Irish music.

Irish artists such as Varo (Dublin), Hooks and Crooks (Waterford), and Los Paddys (Ennis) will perform alongside international talent from far-flung coastal locales.

The weekend festival takes place throughout the Bremen neighbourhood of Vegesack, and is outdoors and free.

The International Festival Maritim, with 100,000 visitors annually, has long since turned into an essential event highlight in North Germany. Festival Maritim and the “International Festival Maritim e.V.” booster club are dedicated to the preservation of maritime musical cultural assets – folk, rock, shanties as well as ships, good food and drink.

The open-air spectacle –which is unique in Germany – hosts musicians from, among others, Ireland, England, Belgium, France, Austria, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands and Poland, and offers a lively scenario along the Maritime Mile with its great number of attractions and exhibitions. There are exhibitions by well-known fine artists, robust cutter pulling or water and light installations that ensure an enchanting atmosphere around the “Museumshaven” with its rustic traditional ships.
