Dead Centre have been invited to create a new production working with the ensemble at Schauspiel Stuttgart. This follows on from the company touring their work in Germany and making several highly regarded original works in the German-speaking world over recent years, including work at Burgtheater, Vienna, Schaubühne, Berlin, and Deutsche Oper, Berlin. This will be Dead Centre’s first engagement at Schauspiel Stuttgart, one of Germany’s largest and most prestigious theatres.

Dead Centre was founded by Bush Moukarzel and Ben Kidd in Dublin in 2012. Their work has toured extensively around the world, including to the Young Vic in London, Schaubühne, Berlin, Seoul Performing Arts Festival, Dramaten, Stockholm, BAM, New York, Kampnagel, Hamburg, Helsinki Festival, Hong Kong Festival, Théatre de Liège and Teatro Piccollo, Milan.

Their projects include LIPPY (2013), Chekhov’s First Play (2015), Hamnet (2017), Beckett’s Room (2019), To Be a Machine Version 1.0 (2020), Good Sex (2022) and their most recent work, To Be a Machine Version 2.0, which premiered in September 2023.

They have created new work at Schaubühne, Berlin (Shakespeare’s Last Play, 2018), and Göteborgs Stadsteater (The Silence, 2021) and they have made three original projects at Burgtheater, Vienna (The Interpretation of Dreams, 2020), Alles, was der Fall ist (2021), and Katharsis (2023). Their works in opera include Bählamms Fest at Ruhrtriennale (2021) and Teorema at Deutsche Oper, Berlin, in June 2023.
