A night of parody and pageantry presented by artist collective CRÓ (Hannah Francesca and Lauren Wilson)! The Rose of Dolgensee is based upon a popular, decades old Irish pageant (The Rose of Tralee) brought for the first time to Berlin.

The show lightheartedly pokes fun at outdated expectations of women. The competing “Roses” will enchant the audience as they are interviewed on stage by the MC, who will then invite them to deliver a short “talent show” performance – intended to turn the idea of “talent” on its head. The audience votes for whom they believe represents the most angelic face of Berlin: this year’s Rose of Dolgensee!

There are two ways to participate:
1. ROSE: You take part as a Rose*. You will do a quick five minute interview on stage, including a silly talent.
2: You are part of the audience. Join the crowd and be ready to vote for your favourite Rose.

(*This inclusive and safe event welcomes everyone to participate as a Rose, regardless of gender-expression.)

CRÓ is an art collective of Irish artists Hannah Francesca and Lauren Wilson. “Cró” in Gaelic means a hole or enclosure, but colloquially signifies a safe, familiar gathering place. Their practice explores identity, cultural roles, and the overlap of digital and physical realms. Responding to their surroundings, CRÓ highlight oddities with humour, interpreting ‘absurdist art’ to draw attention to the strangeness of current existence, especially as women. In a rapidly advancing digital world, they question whether technology unites or distances us from our cultural roots.

CRÓ ponder if younger generations have always felt such a significant gap from older generations in terms of humour, media, and social norms. Working as a collective aligns with the fast pace of today’s art world. Their practice often involves hosting as performance art, intertwining the domestic with the performative to create immersive art occasions, where every element, from food to costumes, is part of the performance.
