Presenting the Zeitgeist Irland 24 Associate Artists

We are delighted to introduce the Zeitgeist Irland 24 Associate Artists, as figureheads who have long standing relationships with Germany

Zeitgeist Irland 24 Associate Artists are figureheads who have long standing relationships in the development and presentation of work in Germany. Representing a number of different art-forms as well as the zeitgeist of Irish contemporary arts, their work will be presented in a number of cities across Germany in 2024. We are delighted to introduce the Zeitgeist Irland 24 Associate Artists:

Jennifer Walshe is an Irish composer vocalist and artist. A fellow of Berlin’s Akademie der Künste, she has been called “the most original compositional voice to emerge from Ireland in the past 20 years” and the “wild girl of Darmstadt”. Her music has been commissioned, broadcast and performed all over the world including at Donauschinger Musiktage, Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, on SWR and WDR.

Dead Centre are a ground-breaking theatre company based in Dublin, under the artistic direction of Bush Moukarzel and Ben Kidd. Working with Project Arts Centre, the Gate Theatre, and the Abbey Theatre, their shows have toured around the world and they have premiered new works internationally in Vienna, Berlin and Gothenburg. Recent productions include Il Teorema Di Pasolini at Deutsche Oper, Berlin and Bählamm’s Fest at Ruhrtriennale.

Sheena McGrandles is a dancer and choreographer from Northern Ireland living in Berlin. She works in various contexts including theatre/stage, education and independent art and culture projects. She presents her work internationally, including recently in Sophiensaale, Berlin, Tanzplatform Deutschland and upcoming in Hebbel am Ufer. She was also a lecturer in the BA and MA programmes at the Inter-University Centre for Dance, Berlin.

Wallis Bird, born in Meath, growing up in Wexford, and based in Berlin for over a decade, she been thrilling audiences with her music, playing over 1,000 shows internationally in that time. Her mixture of Irish folk, rock and pop has earned her several international awards to date, including two Meteor Ireland Music Awards and the German Music Authors’ Prize in the rock/pop category. She recently played at the Euroclassic Festival in Zweibrucken, and at Beatspool in Dresden.
